Market Question:
By the end of 2025, will any AI-generated song officially chart in the Billboard Top 100 in the U.S.?
Conditions for Resolution:
Definition of “AI-generated song”:
A song where 50% or more of the audio content (melody, lyrics, instrumentation, or vocals) is generated or significantly assisted by an AI system.
Minor use of AI tools for mastering, mixing, or auto-tuning does not count unless the creative content itself is AI-assisted.
Definition of “officially chart”:
Appears on Billboard’s official Hot 100 chart in any week between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025.
Excludes unofficial or fan-generated charts.
Artist/Release Requirements:
The song must be publicly released through recognized platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, etc.).
Any promotional or label involvement is allowed; self-released songs count.
Verification:
Billboard or a credible news source must explicitly mention that the song is AI-generated, or the artist must publicly acknowledge the AI contribution.
Edge Cases:
Remixes of previously human-written songs only count if the AI contributed major melodic or lyrical changes.
Songs that use AI solely for marketing content (cover art, social media) do not count.
