LeBron James has opted into his $52.6 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2025-26 season.
This has caused significant speculation around his future with the Lakers, who seem to prefer to build around Luka Doncic, as this impacts their ability to add additional players. This market resolves to the team that trades for LeBron, if such a trade happens.
If he is not traded before the 2026 trade deadline, that option will resolve yes.
DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Lakers as -1000 favorites to retain LeBron, which translates to a 90.9% implied probability that he stays with the team. The next closest teams, such as the Dallas Mavericks (+600) and Cleveland Cavaliers (+1100), have much lower implied probabilities, reinforcing that a trade is considered unlikely.
@Velaris I believe those odds are for him to be retained for the rest of the off-season, but this market would still resolve if he is traded during the season
