In 2002, Rusi Taleyarkhan at Purdue University published a paper claiming to have achieved fusion via collapsing cavitation bubbles in a liquid. Over the next few years, multiple replications failed, eventually resulting in an academic misconduct investigation that almost got Taleyarkhan fired.
But maybe Taleyarkhan's result was real after all? Let's ask Manifold what it thinks!
Resolves YES if there's a widely accepted successful replication by the market close. Else, NO.
