And assuming AI does continue to develop, well, it will open up opportunities that were previously thought impossible. Whether that's curing all diseases, creating novel materials, or restoring the environment to a pristine state. This sounds like an amazing future as long as the AI doesn't take over and destroy us all first."
The video should be uploaded on the main Veritasium youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@veritasium) and can be about either the technical AI alignment problem or the existential risks from AI. If the video talks about Orthogonality Thesis, Instrumental Convergence, Inner/Outer Misalignment, the 6 months pause letter or the one sentence statement on AI risk then the question will resolve as YES. But if it is just a small part of a larger scope video (for example, a video about all kinds of AI risks) then the question will resolve as YES/NO depending on how short or insignificant it is compared to the rest of the video.
I will be trading in this market; I do not and will likely not have any insider knowledge on Veritasium but I would like to see Veritasium make that video.
1,000I've wondered this, too, and discussed with a producer of several large, successful channels what might make this more likely. It seems like what is needed is some combination of interesting math or physics, a topic about which many people have different strong opinions, subscriber feedback, and a reasonably well-detailed storyboard.
